The man behind the name, Pieter Walser, has come up with such an innovative and refreshing concept. In a nutshell, BLANK Bottle is a series of limited edition wines, each with its individual story, each made from specifically selected parcels of grapes from around the Cape. In terms of winemaking, this is about as boutique as it gets.

If you want to know more about the labelling and names given to Pieter's Wines, have a look at his website. Every wine has it's own little story and therefor it's own name. Good written and really great for a good laugh.

BlanKbottle Offspring 2016

This OFFSPRING was thoughtfully blended - Sémillon from Elgin, Chenin blanc from Wellington and Verdelho from the Voor Paardeberg. All the components were made separately. As the grapes came into the winery,  it was pressed and the juice went straight to tank. It received no additions and from there went straight to older french oak barrels, underwent spontaneous fermentation, stayed in barrel for one year, got blended and finally bottled.

Cultivar: Sémillon; Chenin blanc; Verdelho

BlanKbottle Red Limbic 2015

The short version is that the NEURO wine is a wine from my cellar, which was blended according to the statistical analysis of the subconscious (LIMBIC) part of the winemakers brain. The subconscious reactions (e.g. brainwaves, blood oxygen levels, arousement levels and heart rate) to each of the 21 components were then monitored, recorded and analysed. They then went on and did the same for all the red wine components in the cellar a few weeks later. And the result is called BLANKBOTTLE LIMBIC 2015 - Ceres Plateau Syrah, Swartland Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, Darling Cinsaut and Swartland Tinta Barocca.

Cultivar: Syrah; Mourvedre; Carignan; Cinsaut; Tinta Barocca.
